STEP 01

A global charter for advisors who serve India's wealthiest families. Not an introduction to wealth management — an advanced charter for finance professionals already in practice, built around the instruments and structures HNI and UHNI families actually use.
Curriculum last updated September 2026
CFOM® is awarded under American Academy of Financial Management® standards, with the charter conferred by AAFM, USA on successful completion of the examination through authorised centres.
Those already working inside a single or multi-family office who want a formal charter behind the practice.
Advisors whose client conversations have outgrown mutual funds and insurance.
Professionals who need structuring depth alongside investment capability.
Relationship leaders on HNI and UHNI desks moving into international and structured wealth advisory.
Professionals advising HNIs and UHNIs on estate transfer who want the investment side to match.
Those targeting a move into the family office ecosystem from banking, advisory or product roles.
CFOM® assumes you are already in practice. If you are building a broad wealth management and financial planning foundation, CWM® is the better starting point; if your focus is trust and estate planning specifically, look at CTEP®.
CFOM® is a chartered designation conferred by AAFM, USA and delivered in India by AAFM® India. It is a designation, not a course: you complete nine modules of live instructor-led classes, pass the certification examination, and earn the right to use the CFOM® mark after your name. It is not an introduction to wealth management. CFOM® is an advanced charter for finance professionals already in practice, built around what India's family offices are investing in and structuring today — with preparation support for NISM XXI-A (PMS) and NISM XIX-A and XIX-B (AIF).
Family office fundamentals, Alternative Investment Funds across all three categories, succession and inheritance planning, Portfolio Management Services, digital assets, and technical analysis and commodities.
GIFT City and family investment structures, Specialized Investment Funds, and NRI taxation alongside how modern family offices actually run.
From Product Distributor to Advisor for Generations
Families are allocating to AIFs, PMS and now SIFs. An advisor whose vocabulary stops at mutual funds is not in the room when those decisions are made.
At this level of wealth the question is rarely which fund. It is which entity, which jurisdiction, and how the holding passes to the next generation.
GIFT City structures and NRI taxation come up in ordinary conversations, and a purely domestic frame of reference runs out quickly.
Governing capital, growing it and passing it on are usually taught as separate specialisations. Families experience them as a single problem.
CFOM® closes each gap with one connected programme — nine modules and 50+ live sessions running from family office fundamentals through AIF, PMS and SIF, into succession planning, GIFT City structures, digital assets and NRI taxation.
Our certifications open doors to top companies across the finance industry.

The Chartered Family Office Manager® programme equips you to advise on the sophisticated instruments and structures that HNI and UHNI families actually use — so you become their trusted advisor rather than another distributor. It is built for the advisor who serves fewer clients, more deeply, across generations.
The same client looks very different through two lenses. Traditional advisory sees mutual funds, investment products, an individual client, returns and a short-term horizon. The CFOM® approach sees AIF, PMS and SIF, family wealth structures, an HNI or UHNI family, wealth preservation, and succession across generations — domestic and cross-border.
Nine modules built around what India's family offices are investing in today. The programme opens with how family offices are structured, spends its largest block on alternatives, then moves through succession, structuring and cross-border taxation — the sequence in which an advisor actually encounters them.
9 Modules · 50+ Live Sessions · Weekend Format
| Module | Sessions | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| 01 · Wealth Management & Family Office Fundamentals | 2 sessions | How modern family offices are structured, and why that matters for wealth managers, investment advisers and professionals serving HNI and UHNI clients. |
| 02 · Alternative Investment Funds (AIF) | 25 sessions | Category I, II and III AIFs in depth — structures, investment strategies, the regulatory framework, and their place in sophisticated portfolios. |
| 03 · Succession & Inheritance Planning | 6 sessions | Succession and inheritance planning for HNI, UHNI and business families — intergenerational transfer, family legacy and succession strategy. |
| 04 · Portfolio Management Services (PMS) | 6 sessions | PMS structures, investment approaches, client suitability, and how PMS is used to build portfolios for affluent investors. |
| 05 · Crypto & Digital Assets | 4 sessions | The digital-asset ecosystem — cryptocurrency fundamentals, blockchain-based assets, market dynamics and risk considerations. |
| 06 · Technical Analysis & Commodities | 4 sessions | Practical technical analysis across stocks and digital assets, plus the commodities market, price behaviour and analytical frameworks. |
| 07 · GIFT City & Family Investment Structures | 2 sessions | Setting up Family Investment Funds (FIF) and other legal and investment structures in GIFT City for family offices and distribution activities. |
| 08 · Specialized Investment Funds (SIF) | 2 sessions | SEBI's newest asset class — product structures, investment approaches and suitability for sophisticated investors. |
| 09 · NRI Taxation & Family Office Functioning | 1–2 sessions | NRI taxation, cross-border considerations, and how modern family offices run — with perspectives from senior industry professionals, CEOs and CIOs. |
Session counts are indicative and may vary by batch. NISM examinations are conducted and certified independently by SEBI-NISM; CFOM® provides preparation support for NISM XXI-A (PMS) and NISM XIX-A and XIX-B (AIF) but does not conduct or award them.
CFOM® runs as live instructor-led weekend classes across nine structured modules, taught by practitioners with up to three decades of industry experience. Governance, growth and transfer are taught as one integrated problem rather than three specialisations, and every session is recorded so a missed weekend does not derail the programme.
Work confidently across AIF Categories I, II and III, PMS and SIF — structures, strategies, regulation and suitability for sophisticated investors.
Set up Family Investment Funds and other legal and investment structures in GIFT City, and understand where cross-border structuring adds value.
Design intergenerational transfer and succession strategy for HNI, UHNI and business families.
Understand how modern family offices are structured and governed, alongside NRI taxation and cross-border considerations.
