Curriculum last updated September 2026
NISM Series V-A is the mandatory certification for anyone who wants to sell or distribute mutual funds in India. Clearing it is what lets you apply for your ARN (AMFI Registration Number) and begin earning as a distributor. Our training gets you exam-ready.
Why it's worth doing
Mutual fund distribution is one of the few finance careers you can start without a large investment, an office or a degree — and grow at your own pace. As India's investor base keeps expanding, the demand for people who can guide first-time investors keeps growing with it.
Distributors earn trail commission on the assets they bring in, so a book built patiently keeps paying long after the initial sale.
No minimum degree, no heavy setup cost. One certification and an ARN are enough to begin as an independent distributor.
Work full-time, part-time or alongside an existing practice in insurance or advisory — the business scales to the effort you put in.
It is the SEBI-mandated benchmark that everyone selling or distributing mutual funds in India must clear. Passing it is a regulatory requirement to obtain an ARN and operate as a mutual fund distributor — it confirms you understand the product you're recommending and the rules that govern how you recommend it. The syllabus covers the complete working knowledge a distributor needs: what a mutual fund is and how it is structured and regulated, how schemes are distributed, how NAV and pricing work, how investments are taxed, how investor services and transactions are handled, and how to evaluate schemes and recommend the right one for each investor.
Individual mutual fund distributors; employees of firms engaged in selling and distributing mutual funds; and asset management company staff, particularly those in sales and distribution roles.
It converts the official syllabus into a guided study path — plain-language explanations, worked numericals and exam-format practice — so you meet the exam prepared rather than hoping the workbook was enough.

Working with India's mutual fund industry

A structured route to your ARN
Our training assists you with every concept required by the
official NISM Series V-A syllabus and shows how each applies in exam-type
questions. It takes you from the investment landscape and the concept of a
mutual fund, through legal structure, regulation, NAV, taxation and investor
services, to scheme performance and selection.
Carefully designed learning material, clear concept
explanations, exam-relevant examples and practice questions guide you through
the volume of the syllabus in a manageable way — with particular attention to
the numerical topics that decide most results.
How we teach it
Plain language first, jargon second
Most first-time candidates aren't from
a finance background, and the workbook can read like it was written for someone
who already is. Our training starts from the assumption that you're new — every
concept is introduced in plain language, with an everyday example, before the
technical term is attached to it. Understanding comes first; vocabulary
follows.
The numerical topics get the same treatment. NAV, expense ratio, loads, returns and taxation are the areas where first-timers most often stumble, so each calculation is worked step by step and then practised in the format the exam uses — ready for the Excel or LibreOffice workstation at the test centre. By the end you're not memorising formulae, you're comfortable applying them.
Is NISM Series V-A easy? Why the pass rate says otherwise
With a 50% pass mark and
no negative marking, V-A looks like a formality — and that's exactly the trap.
Many first-timers underestimate it, prepare loosely, and don't clear it. The
reasons are consistent and avoidable.

in the order a distributor needs them
